At AFH, we are looking for an International Finance Coordinator to join us in our newly established Pakistan office in Islamabad and support our teams globally. You will join us on a full-time basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary which is negotiable depending on experience.

The International Finance Coordinator will be involved in overseeing project budgets in collaboration with the Programmes team, ensuring proper financial planning and monitoring through regular reviews. This includes managing project budgets, tracking expenditures, and validating financial reports. The role also involves coordinating with programmes staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, preparing timely reports for donors and managers, and monitoring project cost recovery. Additionally, the role supports audits and compliance by assisting in project closures, responding to audit requests, and conducting field visits to review financial management and provide training.

Responsibilities

 The International Finance Coordinator is accountable to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in line with AFH’s strategy, code of conduct, values, and principles and to report to their line manager regularly on the basis of annually defined KPIs.

Key Responsibilities include:

1.       Planning and budgeting

  • Develops and manages project budgets with the Programmes team
  • Provides support in establishing and monitoring the Project budgets
  • Manages quarterly and monthly financial planning and budget advance cycles
  • Conducts continuous, quarterly and the mandatory reviews in accordance with the program, policies and regulations
  • Validates project report balances monthly

2.       Project implementation

  • Manages and tracks of budgets to ensure there is no overspend low burn rate, verifies budget availability for any commitment
  • Reviews fund request and programme work advances to ensure they are within AP to ensure timely transfers
  • Processes and monitors project payments and financial reports

3.       Reporting

  • Coordinates with programme staff as appropriate to ensure that financial information are complete and accurate, provide regular financial analyses to Project Managers,
  • Prepares and submits financial reports to donors and Project Managers in a timely manner.
  • Monitors individual project cost recovery, provides monthly reports on cost recovery and advises on areas that need addressing.
  • Monitors operational cost and BVA for field offices.
  • Consolidates BVA reports for all field offices.

4.       Audit and Compliance

  • Works with Programmes team and field finance team to ensure proper closure of projects, final reports submitted, all income collected, donor requirements are followed.
  • Along with the Head of international finance, responds to audit and Programme requests for documentation and other financial data requests. Also supports Office internal and external audits.
  • In coordination with programmes team, participates to field visits to review the financial management of the project, train field staff as required
  • Performs other appropriate duties upon request of the Head of International Finance

Work Environment

 

  • 95% indoors / office based
  • 5% outdoors / travel / events / work trips etc.

Job Requirements 

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience of working in charity finance.
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian work or similar sectors.
  • Experience with financial management software (e.g., Sage50, QuickBooks).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
  • Competency in MS Office, database, and accounting software.
  • Ability to perform filing and record-keeping tasks.
  • Well-organized team player and willing to learn.

 

Languages

  • Strong written and spoken English (Essential)
  • Strong written and spoken Arabic, Urdu, or French (Desirable)
