Job Profile

Field Finance Officer is responsible for accounting and documenting all financial transactions for the project including ensuring that all accounting procedures are followed; budgets are adhered to as well as investigated possible cases of fraud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare issues and sends out receipts, bills, policies, invoices, and statements as required.
  • Prepare request for funds each month through close coordination with program and support staff.
  • Ensure that cash is controlled, accounted in accurate and timely manner in accordance with organizations’, Donor and audit requirements
  • Work closely with project coordinators over project implementation planning and cash flow projections
  • Controlling the expenses in light of the approved budget by the donors
  • Maintain manually working cash advance register as well as petty cash book.
  • Ensure all backup documentation is properly organized and filed for complete transparency and audit purposes.
  • Prepare financial forecast of field offices in order to clarify the financial standing of individual projects and the entire country projects.
  • Ensure all program and project staff are implementing field accounting policies accurately
  • Checking and verification of all payment documents as per the organizations’’ policies and initiating payments.   
  • Deposit of Tax on behalf of Suppliers & salaries persons
  • Assisting Sr Finance Officer in Preparation of monthly budget forecast.
  • Responsible for month-end preparation and reconciliation of bank statements and income.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Person Specification

Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role:

  • Minimum 03 years of experience in Accounting and Finance,
  • Bachelor/ Master Degree from a Government recognized Institute/ University in Accounting and Finance, or related field preferred 
  • Experience working with the following donors: USAID, BPRM, UNHCR, DFID, ECHO, and EU, and knowledge of donor guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of accounting processes and petty cash management.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills; strong computer competency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Candidate having Knowledge and experience in NetSuite (Online Accounting System), will be preferred.
  • Ability to identify and communicate potential problems and propose solutions to the level of management and then effect change.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a complex work environment, set appropriate priorities, and deal effectively with numerous simultaneous requirements.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
