Transport Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all transportation activities related to the delivery of lunch boxes from the central kitchen to schools and the return of empty tiffin containers. The role ensures timely dispatch, safe movement of vehicles, proper documentation, and efficient coordination between drivers, helpers, kitchen staff, and school focal persons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily movement of all vehicles used for delivering lunch boxes to schools and collecting empty tiffins.
  • Prepare daily transport schedules and ensure vehicles leave and return on time.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of tiffins/big bowls from the kitchen into the vans and vice versa.
  • Confirm that routes are optimized for timely school deliveries.
  • Maintain close coordination with school staff to ensure the timely receipt of food and to manage any delays.
  • Monitor the condition of all project vehicles and ensure they are maintained, serviced, and cleaned regularly.
  • Track fuel consumption, mileage, maintenance needs, and record-keeping of all fleet documentation.
  • Report mechanical issues immediately and coordinate with mechanics for repairs.
  • Ensure all vehicles have valid registration, insurance, and road permits.
  • Supervise drivers, helpers, and any distribution staff assigned to transportation tasks.
  • Conduct daily briefings regarding routes, safety instructions, and delivery protocols.
  • Monitor driver behavior, punctuality, and adherence to traffic rules.
  • Ensure helpers properly manage loading/unloading and segregation of full and empty tiffins.
  • Ensure each school’s food delivery is recorded and acknowledged by teachers or focal persons.
  • Maintain proper documentation for attendance checks and delivery confirmations.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to late deliveries, damaged tiffins, or missing items.
  • Ensure all drivers follow safety standards and defensive driving principles.
  • Implement hygiene protocols for vans transporting food.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational SOPs and food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain daily transport logs, route sheets, vehicle condition reports, and delivery summaries.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly transport performance reports.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or operational challenges to management promptly.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum Intermediate (FA/FSc) or relevant diploma; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in transport supervision or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle operations, fleet maintenance, and route planning.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Familiarity with Quetta city routes is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle field challenges.
