KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Co-ordinate and actively organize Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) activities in targeted schools.
  2. Ensure that the project achieves its Menstrual Hygiene Management related objectives and performance targets.
  3. Provide technical support and supervision to school-based staff to empower them to fulfil their tasks and improve MHM practices among students.
  4. Coordinate with education partners and schools to implement menstrual hygiene management in addition to School Led Total Sanitation(SLTS).
  5. Take lead in the development of annual Menstrual Hygiene Management specific workplans and budget for the project.
  6. Provide guidance, management support, mentorship and effective leadership to other team members, school management/staff/stakeholders.  
  7. Take lead in target schools/areas in scoping and stakeholder engagements.
  8. Plan and implement activities regarding Behavioral Change Communication in the target areas.
  9. Provide day-to-day management of specific Menstrual Hygiene Management project activities, ensuring work is completed against the scope, timelines, and budget.

EDUCATION:

Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences Education, Gender Studies, or other relevant fields.

EXPERIENCE:

At least Three (3) years’ experience in the design, implementation and monitoring of sanitation projects with hands on experience in Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) programming.

Excellent knowledge of Menstrual Hygiene Management programming.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills working with cross cultural and multi diverse teams.

Excellent analytical skills, as well as the ability to express facts and ideas in a clear, convincing and organized manner and good writing skills.

Willing to travel to entire field areas.

Experience working with adolescent girls, schools, and community-based organizations is highly preferred.

Familiarity with cultural sensitivities around menstruation in rural and semi-urban settings.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to observe and understand cultural and social contexts and reflect the understandings in programming
  • Good Training skills specially required for working with and training to adolescent girls.
  • Excellent knowledge of community mobilization with interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication/ presentation skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web searching/browsing).

OTHERS:

  • Willingness to spend required time in the field.
  • Time management and ability to priorities multiple, competing tasks.
  • Self-motivated person able to work without close supervision.
  • Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to train and motivate partners and staff effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to effectively promote DevCon’s mission values, and objectives.
  • Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.
