Introduction of SIF

Founded in 1991, Secours Islamique France (SIF) is an international solidarity Non-Governmental Organization that has been working in France and around the world for over 30 years, taking action wherever there are humanitarian and social needs to be addressed.  SIF is a humanitarian international non-profit organization operating in 18 countries globally, with its headquarters in France. Since its establishment in 2010, the Pakistan Mission of SIF has been actively responding to diverse emergencies across the country. Strategically positioned, SIF operates from main offices in Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, and Tharparkar, complemented by 9 district-level project offices, ensuring extensive implementation mechanisms across 19 districts with 15 different projects. Aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SIF's projects emphasize sustainable disaster risk reduction, livelihood improvement, climate-smart agriculture, WASH initiatives, child welfare and protection, and the provision of quality education.

Position Summary

The Terms of Reference (ToR) outline the responsibilities, qualifications, and deliverables for the role of a Human Psychologist. Psychologists are essential in understanding and addressing mental health challenges, promoting well-being, and supporting individuals through evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Purpose of the Role:

To provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based interventions for individuals, groups, or organizations to improve mental health and emotional well-being

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Diagnosis
    • Conduct psychological assessments using standardized tools and interviews.
    • Diagnose mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and other psychological challenges.
    • Evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  2. Therapeutic Interventions
    • Provide individual, group, or family therapy tailored to client needs.
    • Use evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), or psychodynamic methods.
    • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
  3. Crisis Management
    • Offer immediate support for clients in crisis, such as those at risk of self-harm or suicide.
    • Develop crisis intervention strategies and safety plans.
  4. Psychoeducation and Prevention
    • Educate clients, families, or communities about mental health issues and coping strategies.
    • Promote resilience and preventive practices to maintain mental well-being.
  5. Research and Reporting
    • Conduct research to contribute to the understanding of psychological phenomena.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress.
    • Prepare reports for stakeholders or institutions as required.
  6. Collaboration and Consultation
    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and educators.
    • Consult with organizations to enhance workplace mental health and address psychosocial risks.
    • Refer clients to other specialists or services when necessary.

Deliverables:

    • Comprehensive psychological assessments and reports.
    • Documented treatment plans and progress evaluations.
    • Educational workshops or community outreach sessions on mental health topics.
    • Research publications or contributions (if applicable).

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (minimum).
    • Master’s or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field (preferred).
  2. Licensure:
    • Licensed or certified by a recognized professional body (as per local regulations).
  3. Experience:
    • Prior experience in clinical, counseling, or organizational settings.
    • Experience with diverse populations and age groups.
  4. Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using psychological assessment tools.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
    • Crisis management and problem-solving abilities.

Work Environment:

    • Clinical settings such as hospitals, private practices, or mental health clinics.
    • Educational institutions or community organizations.
    • Corporate or organizational environments focusing on workplace well-being.

Duration of Engagement:

The psychologist's engagement may be permanent, contractual, or project-based, depending on organizational needs.

Performance Indicators:

    • Client satisfaction and progress.
    • Adherence to ethical and professional standards.
    • Effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
