Position Summary:
The Communication Officer / Videographer will play a key role in documenting the Gilgit-Baltistan Local Area Development Programme’s progress, achievements, and community impact. This position focuses on creating and managing high-quality multimedia content including videography, photography, editing, and narrative storytelling to capture the project's activities and outcomes in ecosystem management, renewable energy access, land conservation, and community engagement. The Officer will work closely with the project team to ensure that all communication materials meet organization’s standards, amplifying the project's goals and ensuring clear, consistent communication with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Videography and Photography:
- Capture high quality photos and videos of project beneficiaries, field activities, interventions, and events, focusing on diverse aspects such as ecosystem management, renewable energy installations, and community-led initiatives.
- Produce short videos showcasing project milestones, beneficiary success stories, and impactful moments, aligning with project themes of conservation, renewable energy, and gender-sensitive governance.
- Organize and archive multimedia content systematically for easy retrieval and future use.
Editing and Production:
- Edit raw photo and video footage to produce polished, professional content suitable for reports, social media, and public dissemination.
- Ensure all visual content aligns with organization’s branding and communication standards, maintaining a consistent tone and style.
Success Stories and Impact Documentation:
- Work with project teams and local beneficiaries to gather compelling success stories highlighting the impact of improved ecosystem management, renewable energy access, and community development.
- Conduct interviews with beneficiaries, local leaders, and stakeholders to document project outcomes in areas such as water resource management, smart agriculture, and climate sensitive practices.
Content Creation for Publications and Reports:
- Assist in the design, layout, and production of visibility materials, brochures, newsletters, and social media content that illustrate project activities and results.
- Collaborate with Core office communication team to produce high quality publications and informative materials.
Event Documentation and Management Support:
- Assist in organizing and documenting key project events, workshops, and field visits, ensuring high quality media coverage.
- Capture impactful content during events for project reporting, project updates, and donor communications.
- Ensure that all event materials meet organization’s branding and visibility guidelines.
Social Media and Digital Communications:
Support the development of a digital communication plan to share project updates across organization’s social media platforms.
Regularly create and post engaging content to showcase project activities, success stories, and community engagement initiatives.
Coordination and Reporting:
- Coordinate with field teams, partners, and local stakeholders to gather timely information.
- Prepare communication reports documenting project achievements and content targets for the project management team.
- Ensure that all communications materials are submitted on schedule and archived appropriately.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a related field.
- Experience: 2-3 years in communication roles, with a strong emphasis on photography, videography, and video editing; prior experience in development or environmental projects is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva).
- Strong understanding of content creation for digital platforms and familiarity with social media engagement.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
- Excellent interviewing skills and ability to capture the narratives of beneficiaries, project teams, and community members.
- Familiarity with local languages and cultural context of the project area is highly advantageous.
- Organizational Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and organize multimedia assets and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and adapt to project needs.
