Position Title: Research Assistant
Position Summary
The Research Assistant will support the team in conducting research and engaging with stakeholders. This role focuses on gathering evidence through literature reviews and primary data collection, assisting with data-driven analysis, and contributing to stakeholder consultations. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to coordinate field activities, and a solid understanding of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Field Support
- Support the design and implementation of data collection activities, including surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
- Collect qualitative and quantitative data from the field.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and ethical standards during fieldwork.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative datasets using appropriate analytical tools and methods.
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based recommendations.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize the key findings to inform project outputs.
- Contribute to drafting research reports, briefs, and technical documents.
- Prepare summaries of field findings, stakeholder input, and workshop outcomes.
- Ensure clarity, coherence, and consistency in written outputs.
- Support stakeholder identification and mapping.
- Assist in maintaining stakeholder databases and communication records.
- Engage with stakeholders during data collection and consultation processes.
- Provide logistical and coordination support for meetings, workshops, and seminars.
- Assist in the preparation of agendas, background materials, and presentations.
- Document proceedings and key discussion points from events.
Education
Master’s in: Climate Change, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, and related fields.
Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years of Proven experience in research and stakeholder engagement, particularly in the context of climate change adaptation or DRR projects. Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating meetings, seminars, and workshops.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies
- In-depth understanding of climate change, its impacts, adaptation strategies, and disaster risk reduction frameworks and practices.
- Familiarity with research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative.
- Basic proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Stata).
